Communication in Healthcare
Since 2004, we have worked extensively with doctors and Allied Health Professionals. Over 1000 junior doctors to date have completed our two-day Foundation Programme course, which covers generic communication skills, and approaches to dealing with conflicts and complaints. With consultants, we have worked to bring more awareness to communication, helping them reduce the possibility that their interactions will be perceived or felt by others as undermining, and to understand the dynamics of inadvertent bullying. Our work with Allied Health Professionals has covered dynamic leadership and management within multi-disciplinary settings, and conflict resolution.
The success of our courses lies in the principles of Needs-based Communication (an adaptation of the processes of Nonviolent Communication™), and their application within healthcare.
